Make sure both phones are on the same WiFi or connected to the same hotspot. iOS turns off hotspot if nothing connects within ~90 s — toggle it on right before the other phone connects.
It needs that to find your friends’ rooms on the same WiFi or hotspot. Nothing leaves your network.
Open Settings from the home screen. You can switch between Spanish and English at any time.
Check that media volume is not muted. There is a sound toggle in Settings.
